Following on from the spectacular season 1, season 2 contains a brilliant interpretation of the lives of nuns and nurses in 1950’s East London.
We’re back in 1950’s East London with the vastly popular TV show, averaging 10 million viewers in season 1. Series 2 sees the return of all the shows well-loved characters such as Jenny Lee (Jessica Raine) and Bryony Hannay (Cynthia Miller) along with some new faces that are sure to shake up the plot. The hard hitting stories are as dramatic as the content in which the late author Jennifer Worth prescribed them in. The nuns and nurses of Nonnatus house deal with poverty, domestic abuse and the possibility of the outbreak of TB along with their own personal problems. The cast and script is as brilliant as ever, averaging over 11 million views per episode it thoroughly challenges Downtown Abbey’s stance as the most successful prime time ITV show.
On a lighter note, in this series, famous celebrities grace our screens, popular TV comedian/entertainer Miranda Hart (who plays Chummy Browne) successfully featured on the show, thus transcending the show into greater popularity and success.
If the first season is anything to by, it’s going to be a great follow-up.
